Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II met in 1915 at the Columbia University Players' Varsity show. After the show, Rodgers' older brother introduced him to Hammerstein backstage. While it would be decades before Rodgers and Hammerstein would become a blockbuster item, that night solidified both of their dreams of pursuing musical theater... and aren't we lucky they did!?
